Can you believe that 1st session is already over and 2nd is well on its way? The staff up at Camp sure can’t. With a basin (and multiple trail tribes) full of kids, the time just flies!
So far it’s been a fantastic summer. During our 1st session we had 99 campers up in the Mosquito Lake basin – including 11 Counselors in Training, 8 campers who got back to nature on Wild Tribe and 10 campers who made it all the way to the Marble Mountain Wilderness on Hiking Tribe.
This session (2nd) we have another 96 smiling faces with us – including a Girls Getaway that is out exploring the Russian Wilderness, another packed Hiking Tribe, and TWO Wild Tribes!
The weather has been classic mountain weather! Hot and dry to start out with, but recently we’ve had a couple good rains, which are really helping keep down the dust. On the topic of rain – due to abnormally high rainfall in May, the fire danger in Northern California is significantly lower than last year – a fact the staff and campers are both ecstatic about. All in all it really is beautiful as ever up in the Trinity Alps.
Looking foward to seeing as many of you as we can up at Mosquito Lake in the weeks to come!
Our Work Crew Just Won’t Stop!
Last year our amazing volunteer work crew put in countless hours to get our new composting toilet up and running and finish the new deck for our Craft Shack. Unsurprisingly, there was no way they were going to take a break this year. They’ve already started work on a new platform tent to keep our campers dry when those big storms hit!
