Camp Unalayee will for the second year run it’s new wilderness exploration program for children ages 6 to 10 in the East Bay this spring!
We aim to teach outdoor navigation skills, appreciation for nature, and cooperation, through hiking, nature exploration, outdoor play, crafts, and games. We hope to sow the seeds of environmental stewardship in then next generation all while having a lot of fun!
We’ll be holding 6-hour adventures on Sundays from April till the beginning of June. Each session will include a variety of actives focusing on nature exploration and wilderness adventures. We will do nature walks, crafting, local plant identification and treasure hunts, as well as survival skills, map and compass, trail exploration, and active games.
If the program grows large enough we may expand the program to take field trips to outdoor science programs, rock climbing gyms, and maybe even sea kayaking!
When: Sundays, April 12th – June 7th.
Where: Tilden Regional Park, Berkeley, CA. Meet at the Anza Parking Lot.
Cost: $50 per day (financial assistance available; “no child left inside” for financial reasons!) To apply for financial assistance please fill out the Urban Explorers Campership Application and mail or e-mail it to us.
As with our summer camp for kids programs, we strive to teach self-confidence and a love for nature to kids from any cultural, economic, social, or ethnic background. We hope that this program – which is more easily accessible than our summer programs – will encourage more children and families from diverse backgrounds to participate in outdoor activities and learn to appreciate our natural world.
