Erica is the newest member of our Board – joining in October 2015. Erica first attended Unalayee as a camper, later as a staff member, and now takes two weeks off EVERY summer from her obligations at the San Francisco Fire Department to be on our volunteer work crew and help us with projects like the new platform tent we build in summer 2015! Erica also started bringing her niece Maya up to Camp as a small child. Maya has now been a camper for many years, and hopes to be a CIT this summer.
In her non-camp life Erica is the Program Coordinator for the San Francisco Fire Department’s Neighborhood Emergency Response Team (NERT). After graduating from Humboldt State University, she joined the Fire Department in December 1997. As the program coordinator at NERT, she has supervised the training of over 12,200 people in NERT’s disaster preparedness and response classes. As well, she has worked extensively with City agencies, the private sector, and individual citizens in pre-disaster planning and training.
We are so excited to have Erica’s experience in working with community groups, risk management, and building platform tents as part of our Board!
