Dear *{{First Name}}* , I am deeply grateful for the rainbows that brighten these challenging and uncertain times - this one is from a short backpacking trip I took last week. I’m grateful that nature abides in all its lovely and wild ways, and that this natural world feels wide open and welcoming to me, a direct result of my Camp Unalayee experiences. |

Learning to appreciate the varied wonders of nature and to feel comfortable and self-reliant in the woods is an amazing gift we give our campers; a gift that will stay with them for life. The Unalayee community we join—as campers, staff, volunteers, or donors—is welcoming and supportive, a true family for many and another lifelong gift. To keep Camp U accessible and affordable for children of all backgrounds, we need your support. Community donations are essential to our annual budget, and this year, we plan to provide over $300,000 in financial aid to families in need. Our mission—unchanged in its purpose over 75 years—is to bring together children from diverse backgrounds, regardless of financial means, to discover the wonders of nature, the power of their inner strength, and the comfort of community.
We invite you to continue supporting and celebrating this mission. Your participation is our own rainbow of love, carrying us forward through these difficult times. Read on for more rainbows, opportunities, and important updates! Sally Davis, Board President |

Thank you to longtime Camp Community member and avid supporter Dennis Real for his donation of a 2008 Toyota RAV4 to supplement the Camp U fleet! |

We log many miles on rough dirt roads to keep our base camp and trail groups supplied. While our large F350 4WD pickup, "The Beast," is essential for heavy hauling, having a smaller, more fuel-efficient vehicle for lighter loads and personnel transport helps conserve fuel, reduces wear on our roads, and extends the life of our larger vehicles. Dennis’s generous gift of a sturdy, capable, and oh so cute vehicle is deeply appreciated!
What should we call it? |

Join us for the first-ever “Backpack with the Board” Adventure and Fundraiser!
This summer, embark on a three-night backpacking journey led by former camp counselors and dedicated long-time volunteers, Ned Harwood—Camp’s Board Vice President—and his wife, Heather Scharlack.
Spend July 22nd to July 25th on a moderately strenuous hike exploring the spectacular Russian Wilderness just north of the Trinity Alps. There is true beauty in the rugged granite terrain. Enjoy starry nights, cold clear swimming, delicate wildflowers, and learn more about what a Unalayee camper experiences on the trail. Don’t have all the equipment? No problem, we have loaner gear available. All meals are provided by camp.
Suggested minimum donation: $1,000 with all proceeds dedicated to Camp Unalayee’s Campership Fund. Contact Ned to enroll, or for more information. (707) 223-0216; harwoodned@gmail.com |
