Each year our staff participates in an intensive ten-day staff training program up at the CampU basin. During Staff Training we are busy getting camp ready for the campers, setting up our programing, learning counseling skills and methods, and reviewing lots of important safety skills and procedures.
This year we had a crew of staff head up to the basin three days early – on June 13th – to do “opening.” During this time we set up central, the biffies, showers, storm tents, waterfront, and much more.
The rest of the staff joined us for Staff Training on the 17th, when we really got down to the business of working as a team, learning to work with kids in the wilderness, and honing our wilderness safety skills.
