Wait, What? Summer is almost over? It Can’t be!
We had the most amazing group of campers up in the Trinity Alps this summer. We just sent our last batch of campers home from Scott Mountain Summit at the conclusion of 3rd Session. There is still the August Family Days Program to come, but it’s all over for campers programs for the 2013 summer season!
3rd session was just fantastic! It was cooler than the other sessions, and some hikes got some rain on their choice hikes, but for the most part it was clear skies. And believe it or not – the smoke wasn’t bad at all in our Basin! Despite forest fires only 30 miles away, it’s been quite nice at Mosquito Lake
We were fortunate to have 15 campers and their two chaperones join us this year from the Ambitious program of Japan that has been attending Unalayee for ELEVEN YEARS now! They jumped right into the tribes, went out on both the tribe and choice hikes, and joined all of the activities with utmost enthusiasm! Thank you for coming to camp again this summer Ambitious – and we can’t wait to see you next year!
A couple other 3rd Session moments to remember were:
- Two trail tribes went to Grizzly Lake!
- Gonzo to Lion and Back
- The most epic special day battle ever!
- We made great progress on our composting toilet and craft shack projects
- We were visited by Mike and Lori from the American Camping Association (ACA) for our annual accreditation
- Macklemore came to first night campfire!
