Camp Unalayee in general has changed my life, in a really good way.
I have always adored nature and hated crowded cities. Things like Umbrella Tree, clear lakes, and fresh air feed my body in a way that makes me feel so alive. Ever since I could, I’ve been stopping on walks and on the street to climb trees. I love hiking off trail, exploring, running on the beach, building fires, swimming in cold streams, sleeping under the stars, and just about anything else you can do outside. The Trinity Alps are probably my favorite place on earth (so far). Whenever I’m in the wilderness it’s like I’m coming home. Camp Unalayee is one of my homes.
I have made some wonderful friends while at camp connected with them on a deeper level. I love being around awesome people! I also feel I learn a lot about myself when I’m in nature. Hiking gives me so much time to think. Being outside, smelling the rocks and feeling the earth is better therapy than anything else, for me. In short, being in nature feeds my soul. Being at Camp is the highlight of my summer.
