Donja’s affiliation with Camp Unalayee goes back almost to the beginning of time. She became the office manager in 1978. These were the days when we would straighten bent nails and reuse them. (Some of us actually still do this!) She quickly realized that it was much more fun to be up at the land than in an office in Palo Alto so she became a camp counselor and worked for three summers before moving to the wilds of Wyoming.
Over the years, Donja has remained part of the camp community through fundraising, participating on the board in the 90’s, and continuing to come up to volunteer on the work crew at camp. Being a “serial volunteer” she is looking to apply her experience on other boards to strengthen Camp Unalayee for the future. She now lives on Vancouver Island in Canada and, more than ever, is committed to preserving the connection between people and nature.
