Hello Unalayee Friend!
The fires are out and the snow has begun to fall in the Trinities. Camp life in the warm summer sun feels so far away and we’re all missing our Camp friends. But the winter holiday season is a time to reflect and share our gratitude for our Camp U community. First, we are so grateful for our campers who bring the enthusiasm, bravery, laughter and willingness to grow in the outdoors in all the best ways! Huge gratitude next for our staff who worked especially hard and kept smiling through a particularly tough and unique summer to provide a fun and meaningful program for each camper.
To all of the families, organizations and individuals who support our campers from home, get them ready to go, drive them up to the summit and send them out to adventure with us, thank you! We could not do what we do without the support of the Camp U families and those who help to recruit new campers and raise funds for camperships.
We are always grateful for the greater Camp community of camper alumni and former staff who stay connected, volunteer, donate and spread the word about our special program in the Trinities. If you’d like to become a member of the Camp Unalayee Association, do so today by donating on our Donate Page. Family Days is back in 2022 and earlier in August, so hopefully we can gather in the basin under clear skies and reminisce about the good ol’ days.
Finally, it feels very important to acknowledge how grateful we are for the firefighters and our team of advocates who helped ensure that our buildings were wrapped and sprinklers were running to keep flying embers from igniting inside our basin. The Haypress Fire/River Complex came frighteningly close, but our little piece of the wilderness should look very much like we left it when we return in June.
For all of you, we are truly grateful! Photo by Janna Chapman Create Your Own
