Wow! Can you believe that 2nd session is OVER and it’s already August? Neither can we! Time has flown by since the first of us came up to the Mosquito Lake Basin on June 13th.
The staff has had an absolutely amazing time playing with all the campers (and other staff members) in the mountains. We’ve been very busy hiking, swimming, dressing up, playing games and telling stories with the 86 campers who attended 1st session and the 89 that came to 2nd session. And just yesterday we welcomed 90 more campers to camp for our 3rd Session. This includes 15 Japanese kids that came with the Ambitious program – which has been sending us campers for over 10 years now.
But it’s not only the staff and campers that have been busy busy. Our work crew has also been working non-stop on the two major construction projects of the year: The installation of a new composting toilet and a remodel and expansion of the craft shack. Check out some photos from these two projects – taken by Tom Buoye and in our Picasa Album.
We can’t wait to see many of you in two short weeks in the Trinities for Family Days and hope to see ALL of you soon!

This summer we are purchasing all of the beef we are serving up at camp from Jenner Family Beef. The Jenner Family has been ranching in the Scott Valley for over 140 years and today they focus on providing sustainably raised, grass fed beef to the local community. No hormones or antibiotics are administered to their cows. Dotty’s is serving as Jenner Family Farm’s distributer and we’ve jumped on board.
Happy Beef = Happy Campers! Check out Jenner Family Beef’s Facebook Page to learn more!
Last Chance to Help us Honor Lowell
Since May The Camp Unalayee Board of Directors has been taking donations for the “Thank You Lowell” Fund, as a way to show Lowell Fitch, who retired last January, how much we appreciate his lifelong dedication to Camp Unalayee.
Great news – We over half of the way toward our $20,000 goal (we’ve raised about $11,000) – and it’s not too late contribute and get your name on the card and certificate that we will present to Lowell at Family Days.
