Hello {FIRST_NAME|Unalayee Friend},
September is here and we have all made it back to civilization from a truly fantastic summer up in the Trinity Alps Wilderness.
This fall we are very pleased to announce that camp registrations were higher than they’ve been in years — in fact, some sessions were OVER our normal capacity. Our total number of campers for all three sessions was a whopping 265. Thirty six kids attended our special 10-day Introductory Program for younger campers. It was truly wonderful to give them an opportunity to get to know Unalayee. We can’t wait to see all of you 10-day campers back for the full 15-day experience next year! We also had a record number of trail tribes! 2nd session FOUR trail tribes left the basin AND all the trail tribes were full! Backpacking is the best!
This was most certainly a Family Days to remember! In addition to the 95 regular participants, we had many more community members – some of which hadn’t been to Unalayee in 40 years! – join us on August 21st to help us honor Lowell Fitch for his 25 years as Director. We had a magical vespers presentation of the “Thank You Lowell” Fund – which raised over $16,000 for Camperships! – and stayed up late in to the night regaling each other with stories of Lowell’s years at Camp.
Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you have to lose touch with Unalayee! Stay tuned for all kinds of opportunities for keeping connected to the Unalayee community throughout the off-season. Check-in on Facebook and our Blog, and keep reading these newsletters, to keep up with all the happenings.
Thanks to everyone for such a great summer and we’ll see you soon!

Help us make our programs even better!
As previously mentioned, we believe summer 2013 was just fantastic, but what we’d really like to know is what you think! Without the advice of our campers, parents, families, and community members, we would not be able to run the program we do today – your input keeps Camp safe and fun for everyone.
We invite you to take one of our surveys and let us know how we did. Please feel free to take one of the surveys below anonymously and respond to as many or as few questions as you like. We appreciate any and all information you can share. Thank you for dedicating a few minutes to make Unalayee the best summer camp for kids ever!
Does this survey not fit your needs? We’d love to hear any advice you have on our programs, our community engagement, our outreach, or anything else! Reply to this e-mail and let us know anytime!
Doesn’t have to stay at summer camp!

Where are they now?
Adam Leff Travels the World
We love it when Unalayee campers end up being Unalayee counselors, but we also love to see them succeed in all sorts of professions. Unalayee alumni have gone on to be engineers, writers, Peace Corps volunteers, politicians, etc… really, the sky is the limit.
Today we would like to give you a little snapshot into the life of Adam Leff, who attended Camp Unalayee for eight years as a camper and CIT, went on to be a counselor for many years, and now travels the world representing the United States as a part of the US Foreign Service. We’ll let him give you a peek at his life in his own words…
“I’m a Foreign Service Officer at the US Department of State. I currently work in DC coordinating the US Government’s policy on all things related to Somalia. Previously, I worked in US Embassies in Madrid and Riyadh. Before joining the Foreign Service I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Micronesia where I worked on economic development projects.
Adam is also a fantastic writer and has chronicled his travels through the Middle East and Europe on his Blog. We invite you to continue reading at your leisure…
So, when was the Bear Box built? Actually… No one has come up with the correct answer yet… Anyone still want to guess?
Let’s go back to lakes, shall we? This will be tricky… Really, which lake is this?
